Something To Be Thankful For
Nov. 25th, 2011 08:54 pmI got my car back today. Turns out the water pump went bad and it had chewed up the timing belt. Robert replaced the belt and the pump and I drove it home without any problems. So yeah, good news there.
I went to the doctor today to talk about the results of the blood tests I took when I was there on vacation a couple weeks ago. It turns out that my cholesterol isn't that great and that my thyroid levels are a little lower than normal. It's not low enough that I need to take medication (like my mom does for hers) but the doctor said he wants to watch it and make sure there won't be any further problems. I had to talk to him about something else though.
You know how sometimes when you're sitting down and you get up really fast you get kind of a head rush? Well lately when that happens to me I end up getting really dizzy and I have to lay down for a couple minutes until it goes away. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens more often than I'm comfortable with. I had written this off as a number of things. Maybe I didn't eat enough at dinner, maybe I didn't get enough sleep, etc. Anyways, it happened twice last night, which is the most times in one day it's ever happened. So I decided (actually my parents decided) that it was time to talk to the doctor about it. He said that since my blood pressure was completely normal, it doesn't sound like I have any sort of disease or physical ailment that he's aware of. He drew some more blood just to run it through a general screen so he can check my blood sugar, my electrolyte level, all that stuff. He said he doesn't expect there to be anything abnormal during that screen and said it was probably just a case of anxiety with a little hyper-ventilation.
So yeah, I kinda have an anxiety problem, which I've sort of always known. Knowing what causes this is helpful though because now I can manage it better. At least I know it's nothing crazy serious like a blood clot in my brain or something so maybe now I can get some good sleep without worrying about dying or anything crazy like that. So yeah, that's my Thanksgiving. Hope everyone had a good one and didn't get killed by any of the crazy people during Black Friday.
