Date: 2008-06-23 11:18 pm (UTC)5. It's pretty varied depending on who you ask. There are some that are okay with America, others who don't really concern themselves with it. There are those who think that moving to America is the best route right now since the economy's not exactly getting any beter here and there are those who won't move there because they've seen first-hand that the attitudes of kids raised there aren't consistently favorable to the Motherland.
It's a double-edged sword really, it's both favorable in the sense that it's perceived by some as an opportunity to get a better life, but there's also the view that Filipinos who go to the US adopt this mentality that 'they're better' than others when they come back. For me and some friends, we used to find it incredibly frustrating that Fil-Ams and some Americans would wonder how we'd know what we do, implying that we lived in such a small, easily ignored country. It's very strange, really.
