Okay so apparently shit is getting real with X-Men. I haven't really kept up with the X-titles over the past few months aside from X-Factor (which isn't really an X-title) so I am not completely up on the whole Schism thing. Honestly, I haven't read a lot of current X-Men stuff. The most recent X-related thing I read was Second Coming and I admit it was good. Really though, the X-Men just haven't felt the same ever since they moved out to San Francisco and they definitely don't feel the same ever since they got to Utopia. I mean when I open an X-book and see Namor, Danger, and the X-Club it feels less like an X-book and more like a collection of random people. So when I heard we were getting this whole Schism thing, I was interested because it looked like Wolverine (even though I'd rather it be someone else) was about to tell Cyclops exactly where he could stick his bullshit. This is something that should've happened years ago in my estimation, maybe even when the mansion got blown up for the millionth time back in Messiah Complex. Anyways, check out the new rosters now that they've revealed them all:

Blue Squad aka Team Scott

Gold Squad aka Team Logan

Now my preliminary thoughts on each book.

Generation Hope: Fuck these lame-ass kids. Where is my New X-Men crew? Seriously, I've heard that Idie is the only awesome one of these stupid new kids and she's not even going to be in this book anymore. Sebastian Shaw's on the cover. I guess he needs something to do because he can't bone Emma anymore. I'm not picking up this book unless something amazing happens in it.

X-Men: Okay so there's the huge debate going on right now because Psylocke is on both the cover of this book and the cover of X-Force, implying that she might be a double-agent or something. I think this is all kinds of awesome and this book is probably going to be the only Blue book I read. Weird to see Jubilee on the opposite side from Logan. Ugh, Storm is in this book. I've tried to avoid her for ages but it looks like I might have to suffer through her again. I've grown too fond of Warpath as of late and I actually do like Domino as well so I think I might give this a try.

Uncanny X-Men: Hey check it out, it's all the characters I don't like in one book. Awesome, thanks for saving me money. Really, Magik is the only person on this team I like. Her brother stopped being cool a long time ago and making him the new Juggernaut doesn't help much. Definitely taking a pass on this book.

New Mutants: I actually like this book but I don't like the writers trying to shoehorn AoA characters into 616 continuity. Also this book looks like it's losing Sam and he was one of my favorite things about it. Definitely going to pass on this one.

Uncanny X-Force: No, that's not the real Nightcrawler. It's the AoA version so you can calm down now. I don't give a shit about this book even though tons of people seem to like it. Deadpool is overused at this point and Fantomex is lame. This might be the only Gold book that I don't start reading.

Wolverine and the X-Men: Holy shit. Bobby, Kitty, Beast, and Toad all in one fucking book? Just take my money now please. Thank you. Seriously, I don't care that I have to suffer through Logan and Quentin Quire. I am definitely giving this book a try since it has a lot of characters I like and one (Idie) that I might potentially like as well.

X-Men Legacy: Mike Carey obviously loves Rogue to death. I'm not crazy about her but I've heard he's doing awesome things with her so I might pick up this book. I kinda wish that Rachel was in WatXM instead of this one though because I miss the days when she and Kitty were BFFs.

X-Factor: Holy crap, Havok is back and he brought Polaris with him? This means that Peter David basically just took the roster from his 90's X-Factor book and made it more awesome. I am so all over this book that it's not even funny. I was really afraid that the character who's going to die would be Madrox but he's safe it seems. Looking forward to this book as always.

There are some characters that are notably absent from these promos. X-23 isn't around. I've heard good things about her solo book so maybe she's just kinda divorced herself from the X-people and she'll fly solo during this whole thing. Cannonball should also be somewhere. I remember seeing some promo image for WatXM and it looked like there was a shadow that was wearing goggles. I really want Sam away from Scott. I think at this point in his life, Sam is looking for some sort of father figure or role model and he's seeing Scott as that. That's not a good look, Sam. Seriously, if there was a single character in the whole X-universe that I identify the most with, I think it might be you. Don't fuck this up, kid. Also, Archangel isn't on any covers. I think we pretty much know he's either going to die or turn completely evil by the time the Dark Angel Saga wraps up.

People have also speculated that Xavier will show back up. It makes sense because Logan and his crew are moving back to the mansion. This has lead to some people suspecting that maybe there's another Gold book and that maybe it will be a New X-Men-style book with Xavier teaching the NXM kids (because they seriously need a good home somewhere). It makes sense because Generation Hope is a Blue book and I suspect Sebastian will be kind of like an evil Xavier in it so they should have an Xavier class Gold book to balance things out.

Anyways, that's my thoughts on everything so far. I honestly have not been this interested in the X-books in a long while so discussion would be cool.

Rick Remender is better than Mike Carey and Kieron Gillen. Only Jason Aaron equals Remender and Parker in awesomeness. Though, I think sometimes Aaron delves a little too much into the Alan Moore mind-set, but not as much as Brian Bendis.

I really can't say anything as to the quality of any of the X-writers. I do like Parker and I'm considering picking up his Thunderbolts run. I read a couple issues of X-Force when Remender took over and they did the Apocalypse storyline. I thought the series was pretty good but the only character I cared about was Warren (who I've liked ever since he went back to the metal wings). I might pick up the Dark Angel Saga when it comes out in trade though.
