thelostmaximoffSo it's time for my yearly rundown of my favorite TV shows this season. There are some great new additions to the list and a couple shows fell off the list from last year. Anyways, here you go.
1. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - I am not an Avengers fan but this show is making me one very quickly. Seriously, there's really not a lot about this show that isn't good. The opening theme, the characterization, the stories, everything about this show is great. In the same way Wolverine and the X-Men took all your favorite X-Men stories and crammed it into one season, Avengers: EMH does the same with all your favorite Avengers stories. Awesome show and if you're an Avengers fan or even just a Marvel fan then watch this show.
2. Dexter - It's really weird how almost every season of this show has something to do with whatever is going on in my life at the moment albeit in a small, less gruesome way. I thought this season had a tough act to follow where last season was concerned. I think it delivered though. I like the relationship between Dexter and Lumen and it made me remember why I always thought Julia Stiles had some real acting talent. Good stuff this season though.
3. Justified - I actually didn't like this show when I first saw it but now that I've watched all of the first two seasons I'm a fan. Most people probably think I like this show because it's set in Kentucky and I am a lifelong Kentuckian but honestly it's a really cool show. Raylan is a likeable main character and I'm really a huge fan of Boyd. This series is fun, suspenseful, action-packed, what's not to love?
4. Criminal Minds - I'm kinda losing faith in this show. They've screwed up the cast with all the bullshit involving JJ's departure and the crap with Prentiss's "death" or whatever. It's not that I don't like this new girl because I actually do (or at least I did until they just shoved her in the background) but I just miss the old magic with the full team. Oh and that spinoff they made? Kinda bad and I only watched the first episode. Probably a good thing it's canceled though maybe they could fold some of the characters into the main show.
5. Leverage - You guys know by now that I'm a fan of this show. It's hilarious, it's entertaining, it's cool, it's well-written. It never fails to make me smile and I'm so glad it keeps coming back for another season.
6. Burn Notice - This season was pretty kick-ass. I loved the season finale and I'm intrigued to see where this next season takes us. I thought the introduction of Jesse as a member of the team was cool and it made for some real tension between Michael and Fiona. Good stuff overall.
7. Archer - Oh this show. It's hilarious, it's completely inappropriate, and I love it. I'm glad this show keeps getting picked up for another season because I think it might be one of the funniest shows on TV right now.
8. Doctor Who - Really digging this new season. The writing has really gotten sharp ever since Stephen Moffat took over. I absolutely love Amy Pond and I love her relationship with Rory. I actually didn't like River Song during last season but now I'm starting to enjoy her. I know it's only been half a season so far but already this season is really strong. I really can't predict where this season is going but I'm excited for the ride.
9. Smallville - Oh Smallville, this is the end. I've already posted my thoughts on the series finale and the series in general. Was it the best adaptation of Superman? Nope, not really but it had a certain charm to it that kept me coming back for more even with all the bad seasons.
10. Young Justice - Where did this series go? I was really getting into it and now it's on hiatus. That's pretty much killed my interest in the show. Bring this back, Cartoon Network, because I need my YJ fix. Oh and get the right Aqualad on the team. I am not a fan of this black Aqualad guy. You've already shown that Garth exists in this continuity. Get him on the team so he can be a badass.
